Vinho Verde comes from the bit of Portugal that sits north of Oporto and south of the Spanish border. Once a rough and ready wine, it was made only really for local consumption only. However, modern incarnation are much more accessible while, all the time, retaining its characteristic spritz. And the good examples, like this, are superbly bright and refreshing. This one's made from a blend of local Loureiro, Arinto and Avesso grapes and gives a wine that has a crisp floral aroma with grapey, peachy and even pineapple hints on the tongue while the spritz gives it a real lift. Just what you're looking for.
75cl at 11% alc/vol.
TASTING NOTES
Off-dry with flavours of ripe melon and sherbert lemon acidity.
Serving Suggestions
If you like just a soft spritz try it as an alternative to prosecco. Great just by itself, or with salads, sushi and grilled fish.
